Outdoor fireplaces are a great focal point for patios and porches. Cool evenings in September draw me out onto my porch. We have an area heater that extends the season both in the Spring and the Fall. Many of our clients who want to enjoy those edge-of-season days and nights outdoors ask us to design an outdoor fireplace. Once they start using it, they find that the ambiance of an outdoor wood-burning fireplace can be a lot of fun year-round. We have heard of great marshmallow parties in the dead of winter.
In many ways, the design of outdoor fireplaces is similar to that of interior fireplaces. We always recommend that homeowners install a fine mesh screen to prevent any loss of embers or glass or metal doors to contain the fire at the end of the evening.
There is nothing like the glow of a crackling fire at sunset to help celebrate the beginning of Autumn.
Outdoor fireplaces set the mood and add a wonderful dimension to outdoor living.
