Private Retreat

A Bathroom to Love

You can find a private retreat in many places.  I love to travel, but then again, what I like most is hanging out at home. One of the many things I like about our old farmhouse is the variety of spaces and experiences available in our home and on our property.  This morning I ate my breakfast on the patio, and tonight will have dinner on our porch overlooking the backyard.  Our kitchen is bright with high ceilings, and our dining room is cozy but large enough to seat 12.  Between the different spaces within our home and right outside our doors, I rarely get bored, and if I want something different, I go to the barn, the garden, or our pool.  When designing a new home or a renovation, we think about the homeowner’s experiences and try to create many special places in their home and on their property.  Below are seven ways to create a private retreat at home.

       1. Create a bathroom that you love to spend time in.
