My family’s story reminds me of a book published in 1948 titled ‘Cheaper by the Dozen,’ which was made into several movies of the same name about the lovely chaotic family of twelve. I have lost count of the number of animals we have, so when a friend in the sheep business let us know she had one puppy left from a litter of Bernese Mountain Dogs, we couldn’t say no since one more addition to our menagerie couldn’t be much more work and would certainly be a lot of fun.
Of course, we have also added chickens, chicks, and a number of sheep to the farm. Lucky for me, my wife, Alicia, does the lion’s share of the work, and I get to blog about it.
My vegetable garden is doing well early in the season, with broccoli, lettuce, kale, and snow peas making a great early showing.

I LOVE seeing these photos, and I think Alicia is a super woman to manage your wonderful menagerie and maintain your garden so expertly. And Mo is a winner!
Thank you! I’ll pass it on. JC
What a beautiful pup! Lucky girl to have a home like yours! I’ve always loved that breed! She looks like a lot of fun……….puppies are a bundle of work for sure! Enjoy!
I could live without those sharp teeth.
Love this part of your blog Jimmy and Mo looks like she feels like one of the gang already!
Love your style and your heart. … would love to have you as my neighbor!
Thank you so much!
Thanks, Rob, she is.
Love your blogs! And you have undoubtedly fallen in love with your first Berner -they are the sweetest, most gentle and playful breed! And she’s in the best climate with you there -wait for the joy when she experiences snow!
Thanks, we are having a wonderful time with her. She also is great with the other dogs.
