4 Gas Fireplaces

Some of our clients are purists when it comes to fireplaces-wood burning or nothing at all.  Thats fine, we love wood burning fireplaces.  Most often there is a mix of fireplaces in the homes we design, some wood burning and some gas. I have an old home, the core of which was built from about 1790 to the 1860s.   We have 4 wood burning fireplaces and I am just not comfortable going to sleep with a fire(or embers) [...]

3 Home Offices

A home office can consist of anything from a countertop with a plug for a laptop to the most elaborate command center worthy of a corporate titan.  To me the two most important characteristics of a home office is that it is a place you like to work and it helps you organize and  find the stuff you are working on. Fireplaces

Every autumn as leaves and temperatures fall, I anticipate the first fire in the fireplace. I continue to build fires well through the cool spring nights. Each new fire is a personal test of my log selection and arranging skills-some of which I fail; my father-in-law and I have a running contest to see who's fire will smoke and go out the fastest. When my home (and his) was built in the late eighteenth century, building fires was serious business. [...]
