Sheep 2A

Sheep Sandwich

The baby lambs we had this winter have grown up quickly. Our little farm was quite loud when we had to wean them from their mothers. I’m not sure who bleated louder, the ewes or the lambs. Since the weather went from very chilly to brutally hot in a matter of days, we quickly asked our favorite sheep shearer, Donald Kading, to visit and give the sheep a respite from the heat.

Even though it looks pretty uncomfortable for the sheep, shearing is very quick and painless, and the sheep don’t seem to mind. They certainly enjoy the lack of a thick winter coat.

The lambs’ fleece was not as thick as the older sheep’s, so they got to keep their coat. They are very precocious and love to dance around and chase each other. They are also very curious and will sniff the dogs and strangers.

Love seeing the homes and your new projects. Also love the farm pictures. Brings back memories of our sheep showing days. Than you!
