Family rooms are the place we gather with friends and family. They come in all sizes, shapes, and decors and are as diverse as families themselves. In my living room, it is not uncommon for us to light a fire in the fireplace, which is in front of the couch, and then watch our TV, which is in the corner of the room. It is not a perfect setup, but my home is an old farmhouse from the 1790s that has been added over the centuries, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
During Covid, most of us spent more time with family than usual and have come to understand the importance of these gathering spaces. We are often asked to add a family gathering space to existing homes. No home is complete without one.
