These days we have been getting a lot of inquiries about building homes in the country. 35 years ago a friend of mine and I renovated a large “One Room Schoolhouse” in the country into a 2 bedroom weekend home. It would be an understatement to say that that renovation changed my life. The schoolhouse was featured in a magazine and then a book and shortly afterward my practice as a ‘country architect’ began. Later on, I met and married the daughter of the realtor who sold me the schoolhouse. I have to say I have lived happily ever after.
Now I cannot make any guarantees that building or renovating a home in the country will make you happy, but I do guarantee that it will change your life and if you are like me and many of my clients, you might end up moving to the country for good.

Every time that I drive by that schoolhouse I think of you.
