Stone Addition

Stone Addition

Stone has been used for building homes for centuries.  Today, we almost always use stone as a veneer which is from 1 1/2″ to 6″ thick.  It is a beautiful, durable, and virtually maintenance free choice for the exterior of a home.  Stone can be used on the whole exterior of a building or as an accent material on the foundation or other parts of the structure.

When choosing a stone, we always ask the mason on the project to build samples showing both the pattern of the stone as well as the mortar joints.  The exact same stone can look very different depending on the thickness of the joints and whether the mortar is recessed, flush, or proud of the stone.  Building with stone is an art, and a talented mason can make stone walls sing.
