Rosie is still guarding our porch as well as the sheep, chickens, bunnies, and the latest addition…Chloe, the barn cat. Like most farms-even the tiny ones, animals multiply and newcomers are always welcome.
Our garden is winding down, but some crops are still doing well. Kale is the hands down winner with a few tomatos still to be eaten among the peppers etc. Since I like to cook Thai and Vietnamese food, I tried a long shot, and planted some lemon grass which had sprouted roots while waiting to be cut up. Sure enough, I was able to make all of my favorite Asian dishes this summer.
Our chickens and sheep seem to really enjoy each other’s company including one hen who insists on eating at the same trough as the sheep. You never know, perhaps by February we will have some lambs to report on.
