Grey Marble and Island

I could not resist the title, my apologies for the cliche’. Grey is one of our favorite colors, or to be technically correct, our favorite tones between black and white. Honestly, most colors, (or lack thereof), on interior finishes and furniture are determined by our tasteful clients and or their talented interior designers. We provide the backdrop for their tableau.

Grey, in its wide range of tones and shades, have long been a favorite of interior designers and is also a color we never grow tired of. Please enjoy the following mixed use of grey in our homes.

My husband and I live in MS, in a white two story home. I have been considering have our shutters painted gray, as well as the cement porch floors. Do you have any color suggestions? Our roof is a medium gray.

Gray never looked better! I so enjoy your posts and your timely advice about home chores and maintenance.
And, oh, the lovely pictures where everything looks happy. In viewing your designs, I find your style is very much to my taste, beautiful, functional, earthy and with a real presence .

Regarding the Grey Butlers Pantry: I would be interested to know the inside dimensions of the upper cabinets. My husband is a builder and just installed a beautiful kitchen and now the owner says the her dishes will not fit in the upper cabinets. According to the builder of the cabinets, they are standard at 12″. However the door is an inset door and while most dishes fit fine, hers, apparently, do not. I don’t know a solution to this other than removing and rebuilding and reinstalling the upper cabinets. Extremely frustrating especially since in 40 years of building, this is the first time this has happened.
